Can you see them? Right there, in the male dominated STEM field, there is a pair of “Brilliant and Beautiful” women who are taking no prisoners when it comes to beautifying this world through their mutual love for science. Today’s Woman to Watch is one half of this dynamic duo. She and her partner are empowering women of all ages with knowledge and accessibility to make informed decisions about science (for young women) and healthy (and now customized) hair care options for women of all ages.
Please Introduce Yourself…
Dr. Tiffani Bailey Lash.
Tell us about your work…
Dr. Bailey-Lash: Co-Owner of Tea and Honey Blends.
Why did you decide to start Tea and Honey Blends and why do you think it is important?
Dr. Bailey-Lash: I have had a passion for science from a very early age, plus entrepreneurism came natural for me. It was serendipitous that I found a friend in graduate school who also shared the same passions and even loved to experiment with hair concoctions. It was important for Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy (partner) and I to share our passions through our company Tea and Honey Blends. Tea and Honey Blends brings products to women with all textures that were designed by experts who not only know the science, but they know what the product needs to do to achieve exceptional results because they are their own consumer.
What impact, if any, does Tea and Honey Blends have on women?
Dr. Bailey-Lash: Tea and Honey Blends is not your average hair care company. We own a salon (Element Beauty Bar) and have a non-profit (Brilliant and Beautiful Foundation) that supports women in science of all ages.
What has been the most rewarding part of your work and what are you most proud of?
Dr. Bailey-Lash: I am proud that we are building a legacy for our children.
What has been most challenging about your work?
Dr. Bailey-Lash: Managing time.
What is your favorite quote and why?
One of the quotes I love is:
“Love the life you live. Live the life you love.” — Bob Marley.
Dr. Bailey-Lash: It symbolizes what I strive for.
Who are your greatest influences?
Dr. Bailey-Lash: My mother.
What would you like for your legacy to be?
Dr. Bailey-Lash: That she was a genuine person.
What’s next for you?
