O Christmas Tree and 2013 Christmas Wishlist

My daughter and I finally got our Christmas tree up though not without several snags along the way. First, it was later than usual.  We usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving. However, this year I drove out of town for Thanksgiving and simply had the hardest time getting rested afterward.  We were back home in time, but had to wait until I could finally muster up the energy.  That was more than a week later.

Next, since we keep the tree in our garage, I like to have my husband take it outside first and shake it out a bit.  We already have enough people living in our house, we don’t need the inhabitants of the garage in here as well.  There’s been quite a bit of precipitation lately, so that delayed that process.

Finally, once we managed to get it inside and get things started, we discovered the darndest thing… none of the lights on our pre-lit tree were working (I prefer artificial trees to live ones). I played around with it for a while to no avail and then just felt defeated.  After a while, I decided to unplug all of the connections and start from scratch.  Once I reconnected everything, I did manage to get a few lights to work, though it wasn’t enough to look decent.  We were in the middle of snow, so I couldn’t get out to the store for more lights.  I left it until the next day, grabbed some lights from the store and came home to finish the tree after work.  My Honeybun added the finishing touches and my Big Guy threw monkey wrenches along the way. Here is the finished product.

O Christmas Tree - Christmas Wishlist

So, with Christmas fast approaching, I thought it would be fun to put together a Christmas Wish List! Let’s be clear, I’m a mom so I don’t expect to receive ANYTHING off this list, but, it’s still fun and these are some things that I hope to get at some point over the next year. LOL. I do have a birthday coming up next month, so you never know… I may manage to snag a couple of these then. Anywhoo… these are some items that I think are cool, maybe you will too!

Peace on earth and goodwill to all men – NAW… just kidding! Truthfully I do wish these things for us all – I think we all do, but I wouldn’t be so cliché with my post.  My true list is below.

  1. Fragrances: Ralph Lauren Big Pony Perfume #2 or #4: They both smell delightful! I only came across these fragrances recently, but boy was I pleasantly surprised.  I’m hoping to get to know one of these fragrances a little better really soon! They’re so feminine and yummy. Coach Legacy Perfume: Yeah, I found all these fragrances in the same day.  I fell in LOVE with this one at the Coach outlet, it smells so good and fresh to me.  This one is a must have. It stands a chance of becoming my number 2 fave! My number one happens to be Acqua Di Gio by Giorgio Armani (not to be confused with Acqua Di Gioia which I don’t like).

  2. Sephora Collection – Moonshadow Baked Palette – In the Dark: Honey, this will let you do all types of smoky eye looks and I live for a gorgeous smoky eye! This one will be grabbed quickly!

  3. Boots: I can’t help myself, I have a thing for boots… I could NEVER have enough of them.  Right now I’m in the market for some ankle boots – I’ve had some ideas of outfits to pair them with. Then, of course, there’s always my good ole faithful knee boots/riding boots.

  1. Signature Coach Tote Bag: I’ve been eyeballing one of these since my last pregnancy.  I don’t mind carrying around all of the kids’ “stuff” along with my own, I just want to be able to look cute doing it.  Every mom deserves a cute tote to help her consolidate bags, don’t you think?

  2. Gym Membership: OK, so I’ve discovered that I can’t be trusted to simply set a time to work out on my own at home.  My kids can’t be trusted either, they won’t allow me to focus on anything of my own while they are awake and the truth is, there just aren’t enough after bed hours where I’m up and conscious enough to do all of the things I want to do after I’ve put the kids down.  Plus the boy STILL doesn’t sleep through the night.  I need help and I need structure when it comes to exercising.  Also I really need to exercise.  That is all.

  3. New Music: Call me “old fashioned” but I prefer cds.  I’m definitely looking for some suggestions of new music to pick up.

  4. Denim Shirt: I’ve been looking for one (well, in my mind) since the summer.  I have so many ideas of outfits to put together with a cute denim shirt.  Just haven’t found “the one” quite yet. I feel like it will make for some cute, casual outfits.

  5. Black Blazer: Aren’t blazers such a great addition to so many outfits? I think so too, and I need a cute, versatile black one.

  6. Books: I love books, everyone in my house does fortunately.  I have my eyes on three right now: The New Jim Crow; The Passion Test and the classic… A Purpose Driven Life.  The latter two reflect the space that I’m in my life right now.

  7. Clinique Chubby Stick (for lips): I can’t help it! Everytime I see these in the store I just want to grab them but I don’t want to pay that kind of money for something that I’m not yet sure about. But hey, if it’s good enough for Olivia Pope, it’s good enough for me. I want one or three.

  8. Muji Acrylic Case 5 Drawer: I have been meaning to order this for so long.  I really need this to get my makeup more organized and accessible.  It goes in and out of stock regularly because it’s such a great find!

  9. Nneka Saran Original Handbag: These original pieces have been featured in several magazines and donned by numerous celebs! But I like them not only because the bags are fly and the price is right, but also because she is living her dream and happens to be one of my chapter sorors.  Check these bags out when you have the chance… they’re dope!

Christmas Wishlist

So there it is… simple… ish!  Twelve items in honor of the Twelve Days of Christmas (I just made that up right now – it’s actually more than 12 items, but who’s counting?).  If you happen to see my children or my husband, tell them that mommy has a list too!  Mommy has lots of lists, but I digress. Here’s wishing you and yours much joy, love and happiness this Holiday season.  By the way, what’s on your Christmas Wish List?

One more thing, if you want an insane laugh about a kid’s outrageous wish list, read this related article. It is hilarious (but not for the overly sensitive).
