You’ve Got the Look: My Beauty Supply and Drug Store Go-To Items (Guest Post)
Allow me to introduce you to one of my most fabulous friends! Like her sister, Ms. Yummy411, Toni aka Darbygirlonline is a freelance makeup artist who should have her own blog, but we’re working on that. She occasionally contributes to the Yummy411 blog and hopefully, you’ll see much more of her here on Pink, Candy and Stilettos! Enjoy!
Hey, beauties! Just wanted to stop by to share my daily go-to items for a quick polished look. If you’re not one to shop the make up counters, don’t fret; the drug and beauty supply stores are upping the ante with their make up offerings. There was a time when you couldn’t find good, quality make up at the beauty supply. Now, not only can you find nice lipsticks and glosses, but you can also find great concealers, liquid and powder foundations, as well as great blush. Below are just a few of my favorites that I use when I want a fresh, minimal look.
Here’s what I used…Clockwise, starting with NYX Blush:
Beauty Supply Items
NYX Cream Blush – 05 Glow
Ruby Kisses 3D Face Creator – Level 09 (used under eyes and below brow)
Ruby Kisses All Over Glow Bronzing Powder – ABP03 Bronze Glow (used on nose, upper cheek bone, and forehead)
Drug Store Items
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream – Deep Sheer Tint (Used all over face)
L’Oreal Voluminous Original – Carbon Black (Used on upper and lower lashes)
Rimmel London Exaggerate Liquid Liner – 001 Black (Used on top eyelid)
Wet N’ Wild Lipstick – Just Peachy 903C
Ardell Brow Powder – Dark Brown (Not photographed) (Used to fill brows)
Cosmetic Counter Item
MAC Studio Fix – NC 45 (Not photographed) (Used lightly all over face)
If you’ve had any doubts about using make up from the drug or beauty supply stores, you can toss those doubts out the window. Now you can go confidently to grab a few key items to create a look that works with your budget and time-frame.
Very well put together! I like it is just enough to notice but not enough to look caked on. Love it!!! 🙂
Glad you like it Mari!
I remember that ruby kisses brand when I lived in NY. Don’t think I’ve seen it here in CO but our beauty supply store on Nostrand and Atlantic had some really great stuff. I’m a big lover of M.A.C products and love the look!
M.A.C. is a great brand, I love their shadows best of all. Ruby Kisses is very affordable and I’m always looking for a good deal!
BB Creams tend to make me shiny and oily. How was this one? Looks kind of dewy. I don’t do “dewy” well (smile)…
I use that same brand of BB Cream and it can tend to make you a bit oily, but I have oily skin. Not sure how it worked on Toni’s skin.
Hey, Antoinita. I usually add a little cream foundation in with my bob cream to balance out the consistency and create the perfect shade. I also dust on a little power after applying the cream. If you haven’t tried dusting on a little finishing powder after applying bob cream, give it a try. It should help absorb oiliness. Let me know how it works for you. 😀
Sorry about the typos. I think you get what I meant. Autocorrect sure can butcher a message for you. 👀
That NYX Cream Blush looks beautiful. What a great post!!
Thanks Vee!
cute post! some of my favorites as well!
Thanks Kia, glad you liked it! 😉
