Girl Interrupted: The Case of the Bad Diet

No-High-HeelsI’ve had a really cool couple of weeks, though, the past few days have been interesting for my body.  As we speak, I seem to be dealing with itchy eyes and a runny nose, though for the life of me, I cannot understand why.  It is clearly an allergic reaction to something but what? I’m only allergic to cats… and pollen, of course, but it’s the middle of summer for goodness sake.  What is this?

On top of this new wrinkle, I’ve been experiencing swelling in my knee all week long.  The only other time that I had to deal with this was when I was pregnant with my son last year.  Keyword “pregnant,” but there is none of that going on around here, so I’m trying to figure out why my knees refuse to act civilized.  They (my knees) are really serving as a buzz kill right now.  I have this cute little strut, it’s natural (believe it or not) and I’ve had it for years, but honey… believe me when I tell you that the strut is not nearly as cute in flats and these knees are not feeling heels right now.  So… my summertime flow is definitely being interrupted.

I must admit, I can’t say that I’m completely clueless as to where the swelling may be coming from.  We’ve been so busy these past couple of weeks and it has been SO HOT here that we have not been cooking as much as we typically do.  It’s summertime and we all want a bit of a break in the summer, so we have definitely been cheating by ordering out.  Since I don’t eat bad regularly and I drink tons of water, I would never have thought that eating takeout would impact my system this much and this soon. Boy was I wrong!

Though we have gotten back on track within the past couple of days, I definitely have a long way to go before I am back in tip top shape. This really sucks because vacation is fast approaching and I really need to be at my best.  This is our first full out vacay with two kids and I don’t need any additional distractions.  So, wish me luck as I work to get this thing under control and if you have any tips, I’m all ears! Unfortunately, staying off my feet isn’t a viable option for me, especially not tomorrow as I’m off to the Passport Agency (Yikes!).

As for the cool stuff I mentioned above, I’ll probably share more about it in another post. Until then…

  1. My allergies have been going crazy too. I think around here is has been raining so much that the mold levels are going crazy. I hope you start feeling better!

  2. Can’t wait to hear all the cool stuff. I’m with can definitely be allergies. I’ve noticed that mine has been acting up a lot more than usual as well and I’m mostly a spring/fall allergy person. Hope you’re having a great week!

I love your feedback. Please leave a comment!
